PopeWatch: Rupnik

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

Some years back, I used to see Rupnik’s ‘art’ on OPC missals. I always thought his paintings were weird and distorted, and now, I know why.
I had a bad reaction Stephen from the first time I saw one, long before the artist became infamous. Beyond that it is simply bad art of the big eye school.
And Team Bergoglio sent this man to live in another convent. Please pray for the poor sisters, who are trapped with this creature and have no way to escape save by abandonment of their vocations. Saint Benedict, ora pro nobis.
The Vatican Curia and it’s deformed American cousin, the USCCB, are as insulated from the pews as they are from the altar. Rupnik and McCarrick are birds of a feather and the flock roosts on the throne of Peter.
Does a vow of obedience really include the rejection of all self defense or the defense of another?
Something similar to the just war principle must surely apply, even for nuns…
Why is EWTN showing it?
All that matters is that the pontiff likes him.
There are made men, and everyone else.
TBO,
Absolutely! The vow (simple or solemn) of obedience cannot contradict one’s own conscience (properly formed, hopefully) or the moral law. The Sisters aren’t doing Fr. R. any favors by turning a blind eye to his godawful antics–they’re quietly abetting his moral self-destruction (though quite unintentionally, I have no doubt!).
Thank you, Fr J.
I think we all ought to pray fervently that Pope Francis repent of his wickedness before he dies, which is likely very soon. I shudder to think of what the judgment scene of a pope who has unleashed the kind of evil in the Church Francis has and is unrepentant about it looks like.
I am sick to my stomach.

“big eye” as in an empty and vacuous soul. His art reminds me of descriptions of demonic images in houses.
Still free to roam about the land, he is.
If I was the father of one of the young Sisters he abused…he would not able to walk across the room.
