It’s been noticed that Francis isn’t actually dressed. It appears that he has a sheet draped over him. The above image is clipped. You can see the sheet better in the photo here;

Good catch JFK! And the Weekend at Bernie’s pontificate continues to its end.
John Paul had Parkinson’s and his odd facial expression was a matter of public record.

IMO, that’s not actually Francis in that picture.
Good catch on the sheet. I’d also note that his right hand is extraordinarily swollen, likely the result of the steroids he’s received and immobility.
The modern world has a perverse relationship with death. We don’t talk about it seriously – ever.
If we must talk about it, we pretend that we are in no ways afraid because we’re just so badass. Skull tats, risk taking, ghost hunting.
Or we pretend everyone dies peacefully, in bed, fairly quickly and fairly painlessly – thanks to our modern god called “medicine.” (Indeed, we give the priests of medicine full reign over the end, thus what we do in those last days is bound tight in their rites and their laws, even.)
And we *know* that everyone goes to Heaven, without delay – except Hitler and child molesters – so we have a celebration of life instead of a funeral. That way we can think about all the stuff they did in life. We publicly ignore the death and the grief and cry alone in our rooms so that we do not commit the sin of talking about death. One cannot say that you are praying for the deceased, even among most Catholics, because that would interfere with the sacred myth of instant and universal Heaven.
And yet we are the same people who spend exponentially more on Halloween than Easter. Of course Halloween death is just more false machismo and not in any way serious momento mori.
“And we *know* that everyone goes to Heaven, without delay – except Hitler and child molesters”
They are actively trying to change at least one of those two listed.
And Hitler’s dog.
