You must remember that canon law, as it has developed from the middle ages to the present, is intended to defend the institutional Church (that is, the clergy), not ordinary laity.

It’s all just theater, and I mean everything this sad regime does, whether liturgical or otherwise. I can no longer even bear to watch Mass from St. Peter’s or from the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in DC, knowing how far from the true Faith most of the celebrants and participants are (or appear to be, based on their actions and not their words.)
