A man who rose from nothing purely on his wits. He is also smart enough to conceal just how smart he is under Midwestern Nice. A very smart Hillbilly is a force to be reckoned with.

Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
I have the impression that he might be too cerebral. It seems like he’s working his way from an intellectual libertarianism to an intellectual Christian Democracy. Both perspectives have value but I wouldn’t look to him to have a coherent worldview, nor would I necessarily trust he’ll come down on a wise final framework.

I had a boss like this In The 1st law firm that I was hired into in Houston. He was the son of a sharecropper in Texas, Graduated 4th or 5th In his class at the university of Texas law school. When dealing with the other side he often intentionally came across as the dumb old boy from Schulenburg. By the time he got done with the other side he not only had everything he wanted In the negotiations, but more besides. I learned many lessons from him but the 1st was not to trust the “good old boy” technique.

One of the delightful things about Vance is, as brilliantly smart as he is, he wears it so lightly. (“Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.”)
So many of our modern elites wear their brilliant intellects so “weightily.” They find dealing with us stupid peasants so boringly tiresome. We’re just too dumb to navigate in their celestial orbit.
Yes, for all your glowing academic accolades, I’m thinking especially of you, Susan Rice.

Another reason VP Vance is underestimated is that he is boyish looking. He probably would look even younger without his beard.
Let’s all raise our voices in a rousing chorus of that Trace Askins, Blake Shelton song “Hillbilly Bone”!
Sure the overwhelming pride of the European elite’s arrogance is their Achilles heel too.

I truly adVance JD
I raise my glass to Vances everywhere.

Indeed, “Lead:” beware the Lt. Columbo.
