The papacy is the highest office in Catholicism, an office created by Christ. Most men who are elevated to it do their best, with imperfect human success, to live up to it. Some do their worst to degrade it. Pope Francis is definitely in the latter category.

Sadly, I don’t think most Catholics know or care what the Council actually said. Though the “Spirit of the Council” was frequently in the air in high school, ..we never actually studied the Council’s writings. I didn’t consider the Fathers had documented anything until I began investigating what happened for myself. This only happened after being perplexed by the Church’s doings for more than a decade.
It seems the faithful trusted a crop of dishonest clergy who misrepresented the actual documents to them. They made foul use of the good name established by many saints, known and unknown.
Workers of iniquity. I pray they repented before the exit interview.
