An AK with a scope? My understanding is that they are not particularly accurate weapons at range. The oldest versions were derided as “bullet hoses”. How good are the newer models?

Tom Byrne, an AK-47 or AKM variant is accurate enough to reliably put a man down at 100-200 yards, and less reliably out to 400 yards. If the rifle involved was an AK-74, then it would be accurate out to 300 yards and might get a hit out to 800 yards. One source I read said Trump was 700-800 yards away when the attempted assassin was spotted. Another source said he was 400 yards away. This early in, news may not be entirely accurate.

If there’s a subterranean connection between federal law enforcement and Crooks or federal law enforcement and Routh, the FBI is guaranteed to not find it. It’s a very reasonable hypothesis at this point that Routh was alerted by someone on the inside as to where Trump would be when.
