And He can bring worthy laborers for His vineyard from the most unpromising circumstances.

I’m not seeing any clown Masses, rainbow vestments or Pacamama prayer cards accompanying these real men into battle.
The Battle for souls. The world has claimed many prisoners, but these men will help set the prisoners free. As you perfectly stated;
God always has the last word.
I count among my friends a few priests, all of whom are between the ages of 38 and about 45. All solid, orthodox, and reverent – just as described above.
The contrast is something to behold. My pastor is currently in his 70’s – decent man but one gets the sense he treats his vocation as a burden and would have rather just been a preacher. Sacramentally haphazard and indulges in nearly every Spirit of Vatican II trope, including saying “my sisters and brothers”. God, how I loathe that!
We just got a new associate pastor. He looks 15. Based on his first Mass and homily last week, he seems like – I mean this in a good way – how Vatican II was supposed to turn out. Loves the liturgy, loves chant, educated, psychological (if anyone knows what I mean by that), contemporary with out degrading the priesthood, enthusiastic.
Why would a man give up the world to become a priest but expect to still be of the world…
This is also happening with seminarians in Australia- all drawn to the conservative and authentic Faith. And many were mentored by the late good Cardinal Pell. God does have the last word indeed.
Likewise here in NZ Ezabelle. Of the priests ordained in the past 7 years in our diocese, they are all conservative, and – horror of horrors – love the Latin Mass. In fact, 2 of them say their private Masses with the TLM, I know that 2 others are learning it of their own bat, and another says it in private homes when asked. We do have a weekly TLM in a chapel alongside the cathedral at 5 pm .on Sunday, and there are 3 priests who share the duty, all with the approval of our bishop. Thaks be to God.
Thanks be to God Don – this is amazing.
The Apostles didn’t need synodal workshops to boldly proclaim the Gospel at Pentecost. There was no watering down of the kerygma or a failure to call for repentance from St. Peter. That day saw a great many added to the Church. AFAIKS the synod shows little evidence the power of the preaching that took place at Pentecost in Acts 2. Hopefully the new priests are recapturing the Apostolic preaching of Pentecost.
