The attempt of this administration to use lawfare to get Orange Man Bad is collapsing into the dust. Judge Merchan knows that the Supreme Court majority is looking hard at this case, and there is not a chance in the world that they will allow him to sentence the likely next President of these United States to jail. The use of lawfare to get Trump was unprecedented in the history of our Republic, and the quick collapse of that effort, Friday June 28, 2024-July 1, 2024, is no less remarkable. What was supposed to destroy Trump made him look like a martyr, and has only aided him, and like the Roadrunner he always gets away from his “genius” adversaries. Trump has always been fortunate in his enemies who always go far, far too far in their hatred of Trump.
You nailed it, Don. It reminds me of dominoes falling.
Being the beneficiary of having stupid adversaries is very beneficial to a politician.
Greg is correct – Trump has been fortunate to have had incompetent opponents. He has not had to do much to change the narrative so swiftly.
As a side, I can’t seem to get over Pelosi’s commentary in the media- her face looks more frozen than usual, she does not blink when she talks and her eyes are glazed over. The funny thing is she calls it a “legitimate question” to ask if Biden’s age makes him fit for office. Or Trumps? And how old are you Nancy? Are you fit to be providing commentary at this point? Snake.
Amen to all here, especially Ezabelle. And apologies to all the honorable serpents out there. 😁
Snakes on a plane.
A snake is visiting Traverse City today…
Jill, the good doctor, will be schlocking her way into the ears of those who won’t believe their lieing eyes. Oh Saint Patrick..please rid us of these cold blooded enemies of the unborn.
I just read that the State of New Jersey has suspended the liquor licenses of the two golf courses owned by the Trump corporation, because of this case.
Ezabelle; that’s Nancy’s botox talking.
I’m not as optimistic as you are about the lawfare efforts.
One thing the lawfare has told us is that (1) there’s an ample supply of Democrats who have no business practicing law, much less being on the bench, (2) case assignment systems are a sham and need to be taken away from clerk’s offices, (3) jury recruitment and screening is another sham and we need to move to a system wherein a master list of property tax payers is brought into court and counsel run down the list in open court making use of a random number table to select jurors without any voir dire, (4) the use of juries to make decisions on scalar quantities has to cease, and (5) partisan Democrats do not belong on juries.
Not to cast all this in too “apocalyptic” terms, but it’s true that wickedness does have as one of its effects a dimming of the intellect. It’s true of Satan and his demons, and it’s true–in its own way–of evil and wicked people.
More simply put: being wicked makes you stupid. Hence, the perennial truth of the verse (so often repeated in Scripture), “They are caught in the snare they have laid.”
There’s been a noticeable increase in rhetoric against the supreme court as of late. I am sure that they will try to take some action against the court, but I’m not sure what is possible for them to do. AOC is trying to impeach some of the justices. I can’t find any information about who, though I imagine it’s at least Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch. I don’t see how this attempt moves through congress since even squishy Republicans are going to hesitate to impeach a justice, much less 3+.
Packing the court is at least possible as that only requires the Senate, but a 1 person majority is going to be tricky to work with, and if they the problem as everyone who affirmed Trump v. The United States, that means that they’ll have to appoint 4 more justices to get a majority (and at that point, why not appoint 5 or 6 more, “just to be safe”?) I can see many who would be okay with packing the court shy away at needing to pack it with that many people, and just time wise this would drag things out until the election. “We need to pack the court with our guys because it’s made decisions we don’t like” is not a good look when you are relying hard on the rhetoric “we are the defenders of democracy” and “no one is above the rule of law.”
Still, the higher echelon of dems have long memories, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see impeachments or packing attempts if they should get a more favorable distribution in congress in the future.
