PopeWatch: It’s an Easy Mistake

News that PopeWatch missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis welcomed over a hundred comedians to the Vatican Friday but became confused when he saw Stephen Colbert enter the room.

“I thought I invited comedians. What on earth is he doing here?” Pope Francis was overheard.

Colbert, host of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, pretended not to hear the Roman Pontiff as he made several furious statements about how Trump was an existential threat to democracy and should be in jail and passed them off as jokes.

The Pope reportedly gave Colbert the benefit of the doubt as he waited on his personal interpreter, but when the translation came he scrunched up his face in disgust.

“Trump! He’s going to murder us all! He’s going to murder our democracy!” exclaimed a red-faced Colbert as he shook the Pope’s hand. “If we don’t stop him, we’re all gonna die! Why is nobody applauding my hilarious joke?”

“There is a concerning air of ‘frociaggine’ about this man,” the Pope was overheard saying. “And none of his jokes are funny. You say this guy claims to be Catholic?”

In truth, I’m still amazed that a man with no discernible sense of humor whatsoever would even stage an event like this with alleged comedians. Was it supposed to be educational for him?

I am also wondering how much this little series of photo ops cost the worldwide Catholic faithful, at least those who are still actually giving money to this lousy excuse for an institutional Church. But not to worry, we will save all kinds of money by summarily and illicitly suppressing the Mass of the Ages, the pre-dumbing-down Divine Office, and most of the religious and priestly orders who still practice the same Catholic faith handed down from the Apostles. Right? RIGHT???

As our host frequently reminds us: Heckuva job, Conclave of 2013. Heckuva job.

@ Frank.

I honestly don’t know the answer as to why pf would gather this group of so-called entertainers.
Whoppie, Colbert…they are propagandist at best.
Mouthpieces for a godless way of life.
Maybe the Pope thought his powers and unity with Christ would convert them to the light?

More plausible is that he is akin to their beliefs rather than the Truth that’s sets people free.

Sad to even think that, I’m saying to myself, but unfortunately the Pope of ambiguity has earned my pessimism.

Yes. I’m still praying for him.
