Not One Thin Dime

Go here to read the story.

According to several sources close to the USCCB, McCloud’s resignation comes amid acute financial troubles for CCHD, which has reportedly dwindled its cash reserves by conferring grants beyond its own financial resources.

“CCHD is in a difficult situation, because it’s been giving out more in grants than it takes in,” one source close to the conference told The Pillar. “It’s becoming clear that’s not sustainable.”

Sources told The Pillar that a cash crunch could mean more resignations for CCHD personnel, and a tightened budget for CCHD grant recipients — with both personnel and grant allocations expected to be discussed by bishops during plenary meetings later this year.

The Left destroys everything it touches.

I used to give a lot to Church sponsored activities like this but stopped giving in 2020 when the USCCB bent the knee to the lockdowns. When they agreed that it was OK to mass protest without “social distancing” in “solidarity” (Catholic Social Teaching there…) while at the same time agreeing that the faithful couldn’t gather for Mass distanced outside, they lost all credibility. Now following “subsidiarity” (Catholic Social Teaching there…) I give and work with our local St. Vincent de Paul. At least I know where the money is going.

I have tried to embrace the Catholic omnibus spending packages like CCHD or the Bishops Appeal. Never was comfortable just giving for use at their discretion. Truly, the more I see what their “discretion” looks like, the less willing I am to donate!

On a personal level, I think specific appeals are more Catholic than the nonspecific ones. First, you get to decide if the means God has given you ought to be used for a particular task. Second, you have a solid connection between corporal and spiritual acts of mercy because you know what to pray for. Collect as many prayers as dollars, administrator priests. Prayers are your line – almost everything corporal can be mandated by a better funded secular government.

Here’s a list of some bad organizations CCHD gives to. You can print this and shove it in the envelope (If, like mine, your bishop panhandles for them).

CCHD-2020-2021-Grants-Report-The-Lepanto-Institute.pdf (lepantoin.org)

Here’s a small one for Peter’s Pence. It fits on a 3X5 card … I’m sure there’s more, but after struggling trying to fit the CCHD one in the envelope, I decided to be concise:

Peter’s Pence donations were used to invest in the movie “Rocketman”, an explicit homosexual biopic.
Peter’s Pence donations ($130,000,000!) were used to invest in the corrupt London property scheme being tried in Vatican courts right now!
Only 10% of Peter’s Pence donations go to the poor. It’s scandalous that our Bishop continues to collect for this “charity”.

I give to my parish first and then to an abbey (Norcia) & a monastery (Fairfield). I cut off the bishop after the lock downs and he dumped the TLM. The Pope and Vatican get nothing but prayers after the Peter’s Pence debacle.

Our then resident priest said from the pulpit, “I don’t give to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and I suggest you don’t”. That was the year Acorn was in the news. Bishop’s Lenten Appeal gets very little from our congregation. It’s a traditional diocese, but neither bishop in our state stood up against Gov. Northam during the ChiCom plague. I now people who died because clinics for radiation and chemo therapies were closed down during his reign. I called him Gov. Dr. Gostel Northam, a neonatal neurologist who advocates infanticide among other evils.

Last Sunday was the roll out of the diocesan appeal. I made it clear I don’t donate to slush funds – and like BillR said, to the parish first.

But our priest is really gung ho on it, despite that we are a really small country parish with largely an older retired population.

Makes me wonder how much longer the parish will survive, especially if Father has been told that he needs to get X dollars.

Glad to see Ralph McCloud is finally gone from the CCHD. You’ll recall it was this same man who acted as treasurer for the political campaign of Texas State Senator Wendy Davis— a woman so notoriously pro-abortion her nickname was “Abortion Barbie”. And McCloud was her treasurer while he was working for the USCCB and our bishops kept him on as head of CCHD. The bishops have known what sort of man McCloud is for over fifteen years now.

Not one thin dime, indeed.

Nah, we did this, one withheld dime at a time. It’s not done yet but it feels closer.

Concur with giving to St. Vincent de Paul. They do much the same as Catholic Charities and they operate their resale stores quite efficiently.

CAG – where did you read this? How abhorrent.

Misappropriating the faithfuls hard-earned money when they are told it is going to “help the poor” is theft. Period. It doesn’t matter how they spin it. It’s robbery.

Further, if the donations are being used to subsidise the deficit in the funds then the “charity” needs to shut down. If it is not being operated in a sustainable way, shut it down!
