A French laywoman martyred on April 16, 1794, a few days after her thirty-fourth birthday, by French revolutionaries. Whenever I read about those murdered during the French Revolution, I recall an elderly aristocrat, well into his eighties. He noted before his execution that at age 15 he had the privilege to fight for his King and now in his extreme old age he was to die for God. He concluded, It has been a good life.
