Burn of the Day

One hopes for good and holy clerics.  The bare minimum should be no moral cretins.

Yes it’s happening in the world Archbishop. And when do you speak up when it happens to Christians? Or Catholics? You have no problem being a mouthpiece for Hamas.

Free the hostages. Remember them Archbishop?

You know, I bet if Hamas surrendered, the war would stop …

Maybe then the good archbishop would have time to finish writing that post denouncing the muslim jihadists who kidnapped hundreds of women and children in Nigeria this week.

If I remember correctly, the Jews didn’t attack the Nazi’s in WW2. When the victims fight back that’s the natural response and to be applauded not badgered. Hamas brought this upon themselves and the world. Rome is so screwed up.

So much of the Church hierarchy is silent or complicit in the evils of our day.

Laity, like Don, do a true service when they accuse the bishops to their face. It is not easy to do so, despite what bravado we speak in private.

People of good will generally want peace, for themselves and for others. It can cause us to leave the hard things unsaid. I have often seen that in myself.

Truth is a higher virtue than peace, and can be a more difficult one. God grant us the courage to practice the harder virtues.

How on earth did someone so stunted— both morally and intellectually— ever make it through seminary, let alone end up an Archbishop?

Israel has a sizable Muslim and Christian population, and both groups have representatives in the Knesset. Furthermore, as I recall, three of the Israeli Supreme Court Justices are Arab— two Christian and one a Muslim. The Israeli armed forces, the IDF, has both Christian and Muslim soldiers and officers. A Muslim or Christian Israeli citizen can expect to walk the streets unmolested by his Jewish fellow citizens.

Contrast that integration with Gaza— and imagine for a moment what would happen if someone wearing a kippah showed his face in Gaza. He’d be torn to pieces. The inhabitants of Gaza make no secret of their hatred for Jews, and openly regret that on October 7th they didn’t kill more, rape more, decapitate more.

For the cringe Archbishop of San Antonio to look at the Israel/Gaza conflict and declare that Israel is the genocidal party in all that goes beyond ignorance, beyond mere stupidity, and into a disturbing, sinister place. Words fail.

I always suspect in cases like these, where a prelate openly defies good morals and right reason, there is a strong economic motive somewhere in the background–not to mention a very self-serving spirit. (Or maybe the prelate really is that dumb.)

Father J – I tend to lean to the economic motive theory on most occasions. I don’t think he is dumb. I think he is calculated and self-serving a popular catch-cry making the news. It’s a popularity contest for him and he lacks the guts to tell the truth.
