Public Service

Dedicated to all the young attorneys I encounter who look as if they are wearing burlap sacks rather than suits.  I buy off the rack, but with the help, as in all that I do, of my Bride I know my measurements and my suits fit.  Now if you are going for a certain look, that is fine.  Trump always wears suits a tad too big for him, and it works for him:  black suit and red tie. It is his brand.  However, do not think you look professional while you look like an unmade bed.  (I should note that looking like an unmade bed is my favorite look when I am not in the law mines.)

I’m average height, but an unusually thin build.
For our wedding I couldn’t find a dress shirt that actually fit for until my father in law brought me to the Haberdasher in Yakima WA.
I’ve always gotten my dress shirts and pants from him since since he tailors everything you buy from him. Darting in the back does miracles for dress shirt fit and all the pants he stocks are unfinished hems that he’ll hem to size.
It’s not cheap and you have to come back a few days later to actually take it home, but when nothing off the rack ever fits it’s the best deal ever 😀

We used to have a good men’s shop in town, and I must say, my DH wore a suit and tie better than anyone I ever met, because everything was tailored to him. He was required to wear suit/tie every day for nearly 30 years of his working career. (The last ten years, management started the switch over to corporate logo wear.)
.
None of my sons have suits, and they all have trouble with ties.

I sold men’s clothes while in college and after afterwards I wore a suit everyday. The decline of the industry has been almost as painful to watch as it to see the abuse suit wearers do to fine wool. It’s like the Vat II of fine tailoring.

A few hours with those 1950s Hong Kong tailors did the job perfectly, however, a few decades later, they failed terribly to keep up with my body’s evolution.
