I am a Knight and Knights are supposed to be bold against evil.
Indeed

I admit I really haven’t followed this issue all that closely. Was Rupnik charged and found guilty in a court of law?
.
Having said that, his paintings are not to my taste. I support their removal.
Benefit of the doubt: they may want to take their time and vet any replacement art carefully.
Even if he wasn’t a pervert, it’s terrible art and should go anyway IMO.
The Knights haven’t been morally rigorous since the tenure of the detestable Carl Anderson, who did everything he could to undermine the mission and feminize this once great organization. See the above controversy- prior to his tenure there would have been no question about the mosaics coming down and the different councils and assemblies would have fought each other for turns with the sledge hammers.
I do not support removing the mosaics over the character of the artist, Rupnik or Caravaggio. I support their removal because they lack liturgical or artistic merit.
“Was Rupnik charged and found guilty in a court of law?“
The Jesuits tried and convicted him … even excommunicated him.
… Then Francis intervened.
The works of blasphemous serial rapists shouldn’t never have pride of place in God’s house!
I would note that the few authenticate water colors of Hitler command rather high prices on the quiet markets. Possibly the mosaics could be removed and surreptitiously sold to benefit a related cause.
I used to see Rupnik’s art on the OCP missals that we used in church. They struck me as bizarre and distorted. Now we know that the artist was bizarre and distorted.
By all means, take a crowbar to them! They must be obliterated!
Oh, did you say something about the guy who made them?
Don’t remove artwork for the sins of the artist, do so for the quality of the art.
…That does create any number of problems for churches built since 1950….
Then again, changing a regimen of music will typically be much easier than changing the interior decor. Given the state of music in the average parish right now, I don’t see visual artwork improving anytime soon.
