Certainly agree on the stupidity of the false resignation theory. I’m not sure yet that B-XVI was a gutless wonder, although that’s clearly possible. I want to know more about what he was threatened with, and by whom, and which people he trusted. He obviously did not have the type of inner strength JP-II had, and I do feel betrayed by the whole process starting with the resignation. However, I believe we need more facts to arrive at a final assessment, and those facts must be buried very deeply by now.
I guess any theory will be put out there. Especially when we have a situation as bad as it currently is. Depends if you buy it or not. I fully understand the hostile feelings of being let down by Pope Benedict. However I agree with Frank here – there is more to this than we know. And it’s not a fake/trick resignation!
