And it always has, though (even in this forum) none of us remember the ire caused by only trying clergy only in Church courts, the objection is the same.
Could Rupnik be innocent? Unlikely but possible. That’s not the point, really. The point is the appearance of a heavy thumb on the judicial scales.
This persists because so many in the position to act are compromised themselves. So rather than seek justice, the hide behind a veil of mercy in the hopes that their own malfeasance goes unnoticed.Not one of these men has the repentence of Peter nor the humility of conversion of Paul.
Why the Vatican has dealt with this creature more harshly than Rupnik is a mystery:
