Trump is right. NATO in effect allows the other NATO members to have weak militaries, relying upon the US promise to come to their rescue if they are attacked. In effect the US taxpayers subsidized Western European welfare states by allowing them to have hollowed out, scarecrow militaries.

Odd that he should recognize the other nations neglect, yet still claim Trump confused. Maybe he simply hates Trump?
I may be wrong (I have no analysis to back this up), but I think that perhaps the only nations in NATO trying to pull their own weight are the United Kingdom and Poland. Germany, having de-nuked itself, doesn’t have enough energy to run its economy any longer now that the Russian spigot for methane gas has been cut. France has always been wishy-washy. The rest of the nations in western Europe are too decadent and too dependent on US support. Of course, we’re too decadent as well. 😞
