Something for the weekend. In the Mood (1941), perhaps the best known composition of Glenn Miller.

I wanna hear the Glen Miller Orchestra and I wanna see cops beating up hippies!

John Payne on piano, or do my eyes deceive me?
Years ago, I used this clip in my music unit on jazz: good display of the various instruments, each taking its turn with the melody. (Yes, in Catholic grade school, you get to teach everything).
Ah, the memories. When I was in high school, my Mom handed me a five-LP set, bound in white leather, labeled “Glenn Miller Limited Edition.” She said “Just listen to this for a while and see what you think.” I was instantly captured with the first few bars of the first song, “Sunrise Serenade.” What marvelous music.
