By clicking on the You Tube video of the ’68 riots I discovered the You Tube channel of the LBJ Library, which has a collection of “selected” phone conversations recorded by the LBJ White House. Among them are several calls between LBJ and Mayor Daley Senior, including one on 8/29/68 — the day after the convention ended — in which LBJ praises Daley’s handling of the riots and says he complained to “Stanton” (presumably, Frank Stanton, then president of CBS) about his “disgraceful” coverage of the convention!
And those “radicals” or their political progeny now run the country. Irony overflows its cup.
Remember it well. And the Chicago Seven trial that followed.
Online the late Osama bin Laden’s letter to the United States is now being quoted by these rioters. It must be a combination of Tik Tok and drugs. Only one rioter outside the DNC was arrested.Any rioter on a visa ought to be deported.
Contrast this with the numerous Jan 6 arrests
To the similarities to 1968 add a hastily built candidate slate and brokered convention. After LBJ announced he wouldn’t run in January, the DNC scrambled to fill the void, only to have the emerging front-runner, RFK, killed by a Palestinian terrorist.
