PopeWatch: Spirit of the Synod
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Keep is simple Synod.
My guess is that the average Catholic just asks for a few things;
Holy Priests. If you can’t do it yourself then don’t preach it to others. Become Holy as my Father in heaven is holy.
Praying is your #1 priority.
Administration is not. Hire good staff and spend time on your knees so you can be a true shepherd to your flock.
Teach the Truth.
Bringing in folks who suffer disorders is and always will be done with the spirit of the good Samaritan. Binding up the wounds and bringing them to Church. The Inn is the Church.
Binding up the wounds is not enabling them, but giving them the HOPE that doesn’t fail. Jesus will untangle the knots that have them twisted as to their true identity. Jesus heals and saves.
Don’t be ashamed of the Holy Catholic Church’s perennial teachings and precepts.
Vocations to the priesthood come from building community. Build it. Open your church. Love your neighbors and lead them to pure waters.
Feelings. That’s what draws sinners to Our Lord. You didn’t know that?
Amen, Philip. Most especially that last paragraph. Experience shows that people want the truth, particularly the young folks who can see the futility of the 1970’s “new Church” these aging prelates continue to offer as “Catholic.” They know their time is short, hence the vitriol they spout daily against “rigid tradition.” Pray, fast, and follow the Apostolic Faith. Not as easy as caving in to the world, but much better results!
I’m so tired of the 60s hippy bunch and the fact we have to go “backwards” for them.
Most are emotionally immature bc they are stuck in their feelings and experience.
I’m gonna sit this kumbayah out.
Cupich making it about himself yet again.
