Lately I am finding comfort from passages in the Bible that seem to be made for iron times. May the times improve, but the truth of the Bible remains, in good times and in bad.

34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord; 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death.
-from Proverbs, chapter 8.
I attribute my Godfather’s surviving the Battle of the Bulge to his faith and practice thereof.
He was a tank operator in Pattons 2nd Armor Division. The photo above sparks my imagination.
On July 20, he and his wife, Gloria, stood in for me. It was 1961. I was 10 days old.
On that magnificent day I was baptized.
Thank you Aunt Gloria and Uncle Joe
