Our present never looks worse than when it looks back on the past.
Luther as Thor

*Assuming that “word of God” fits my idiosyncratic theological musings, otherwise I’m happy to dispense with it.
BTW, sometimes AI generated images are either unintentionally perceptive, or the people who post them approvingly are unintentionally oblivious, or both. I presume the Luther character here is supposed to be holding a bible, but it says “Luther” on the unoccluded side, which I suppose is ironically apropos. The text under his thumb is occluded, but could just possibly be read as evil.
Additionally, the hammer kind of looks like it’s in the shape of a coffin, which is also apropos. Not sure why he’s still in the habit, or, if he is supposed to be still a monk, why he doesn’t have a tonsure. Come on robots, it’s 2023.
Interesting also that he appears to be in a wasteland.
Of his own creation?
Several years ago, I saw a reformatiom era cartoon that showed Luther as Hercules, so picturing him as Thor isn’t without precedence.
The lack of a ring is fitting.
If he had any covenant with God whatsoever he would be wearing a ring, signifying that his life is not his own. Absence of the covenant he is a rouge spiritualist. A shaman at best.
An imposter to the faith and a member in the unholy order of Pride.
The Prideosites which account for 37,000 + denominations in this country alone.
Luther as thorn.
I had to laugh Don. Even though he was among many that attempted to recreate the Word of God in their image, I envisioned him as saying “hold my beer.”. Well played.
