The problem is that street-level Democrats do think this way, and that’s manifest in the behavior of the prosecutocracy, the judiciary, and the street-level Democrats who land on juries.
We can wager she herself isn’t much of a threat anymore. The leverage she had to extort pre-paid bribes is largely gone, there’s reason to believe she has Parkinson’s (which commonly includes dementia in its terminal phases), and there’s reason to believe she hits the bottle hard. Given his family history, her husband at age 77 is on borrowed time. Her daughter is the only member of the next generation with the brains to continue the grift. The thing is, Chelsea, like Michelle Obama, is a diletante at heart. And there’s nothing wrong with that. The smart money says she will leave public life when she no longer has to placate her mother.
