Hi, @emzanotti.
I attempted to get answers months ago from Cardinal Hollerich, regarding the problematic use of art created by alleged sexual predator, Fr. Marko Rupnik.I was later notified that @EcclesiaEU removed the art, due to the potential scandal overshadowing the Synod.… https://t.co/BkEXvk5UZc pic.twitter.com/5cAuUTuPPM

Leaving aside the fact that Rupnik is a truly crappy artist, and a completely derivative purveyor of “big eyes” art kitsch, this is all about the Pope giving the bird to those upset at the fact that Rupnik is a sacrilegious abuser. The Pope has clearly never liked it when he has had to, under pressure, walk away from one of his predator buddies. The Pope isn’t going to tolerate this anymore. Rupnik is on Team Francis, and anyone who doesn’t like it can pound sand.
He and his art are certainly emblematic of the times. Hideous, soulless, full of immoral corruption, cronyism, and a debasement of the sacraments and sacramentals.
The message is coherent:
New is better than old.
I am in charge.
My reply is also coherent:
Christ is the perfect and eternal King.
You are a poor and temporary steward.
The Church also has eleven centuries worth of sacred music. What we get is Hallmark Channel scores. The clergy, like architects and like the businessmen and philanthropic executives who hire architects, is crass.
Yeah agree Don. He won’t walk away from a Rupnik because he lacks courage and doesn’t want to suffer the fall out which will come from those who will target him for punishing Rupnik. He is one political savvy individual. It’s ok, people are repulsed by Rupnik. You can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
First, I read the prayer and found it benign. Then the background popped out at me, and I felt the same revulsion I would feel at finding a slug in my salad. We are surrounded by a cloud of saintly witness. Unfortunately, we are also trailed and tracked by a cloud of an entirely different sort. And that is who/what I saw.
