PopeWatch: Rupnik Rehabilitation
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 41 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
I noticed, in researching the process of investigating him, that the process was thwarted because “the statute of limitations had expired.” Fortunately, for the sake of final justice, those worldly legalities don’t apply on Judgment Day.
Unlike Mr. Ed With A Period after the D Condon, I am perfectly willing to adopt the “theory” that PF is behind all this. He is a devoted practitioner of the Chicago Rule, as is his soulmate Barack Obama: Punish your enemies and reward your friends, always, at any cost. Whoever’s surprised by this, raise your hands…
I had no idea that mortal sins had expiration dates.
The idea of trying to hide behind an excuse of a “statute if limitations” regarding his sinful behavior is insulting and a brazen lie.
Lay it at Jorge’s feet.
As the executive AND legislator, he is not bound by any statute of limitations that he does not choose to be.

“For my enemies, anathema. For my friends, the Pornocracy.”
Dale Price summarizes my thoughts.
May God Almighty depose and anathematize Jorge Mario Bergoglio and all his manifold works of iniquity, depravity and corruption.
Obviously Francis doesn’t give a damn what we Pew Meat think— he likes Rupnik, finds him useful, and doesn’t care what he’s done or who he’s done it to. Francis might gas on about how bad ‘clericalism’ and ‘legalism’ are, but he has zero qualms about using his authority as Cleric of All Clerics and Arbiter of Canon Law to run roughshod over anyone who might take his toys away.
Jesus ate with repentant sinners. St. Pio told the unrepentant sinners to get away from him. Why is Pope Francis inflicting this scandal on the people?
Rupnik is a vile man. Anybody who still sits and listens to a homily or Mass he presides over should recoil in disgust at him.
If Pope Francis is not going to admonish Rupnik (for whatever reason), then we as a collective faithful should. Therefore, the faithful should lead by action and walk out if he is given the privilege of still exercising his priestly duties. I wish I had the opportunity to exercise this right.
Repentant or not, Rupnik was never punished for his years of debauchery and filth – he abused his power and preyed on those around him he was entrusted to minister to.
Yes, God forgives ALL sin, however Rupnik is welcome to make amends for his sins away from the faithful. Anything less than this is an ongoing scandal.
We have reached a point where there is so much filth in the church and it is going unpunished, that we can’t wait for the hierarchy to do the right thing. Because unfortunately the hierarchy has become politically motivated and have lost their purpose.
It’s coming down to poor leadership on Francis behalf.
