Bergoglio still has his Argentinian passport. He could be arrested there if he went back. I’m not sure under what charge, but that is why I think he has never gone back.
His stripes seem to be same.
I hope it gets that way all over and he can only go to obscure places like Mongolia.

If some serious criminal charge (like an abuse scandal) was involved, Francis has enough enemies around the world that we would have heard of such by now (and has anybody?). More likely: a mass of petty resentments at high-handed behavior, coldness and mismanagement.
