And then, almost exactly 20 years later, the installed but probably not lawfully elected CINC surrendered billions of dollars worth of weapons and ammo, not to mention thousands of suddenly doomed people, back to the same Taliban. Kind of makes you mad, doesn’t it? It sure does me. 🤬
Twenty-one years later, I remember Carol D. a wonderful young [she will not grow old] attorney at one of our clients. I worked on a half dozen deals with her and came to know and respect her greatly.
She and her husband had recently adopted a little girl. She was on one of the top floors that day.
Over the ensuing weeks and months I worked with surviving staff of that company replacing burnt docs and files. None of those interactions was absent tears.
And, so with “Lord Lovett’s Lament” running through my head all I can say is “Those dirty bastards!”
