Fourteen Presidents?

Including Carter who is in hospice care, there are five former Presidents currently alive, counting Trump.  I assume that Mr. Bump is an affirmative action hire, if idiots are regarded as a minority.

Was he talking about presidents of other countries? I can’t understand how he could come up with 14 otherwise.

If the dead can vote, as in last election, then surely he found 14 😂. I wonder why he stopped at 14?

HR used to give us a set of protocols to follow in interviewing applicants – what you cannot ask, designing a template you must use with all you interview, when you can ask a follow up question, how you must word certain questions, blah blah. I’d have been sorely tempted with this guy to ask him why there is a ten year gap on his LinkedIn profile and why his educational and employment history between the ages of 16 and 37 is unaccounted for bar two years. (There are a number of Philip Bumps; this one appears to be the one born in 1975 who has lived variously in Columbus, Ohio, Lower Manhattan, Upper Manhattan, and Westchester; it appears from other sources he was once on the staff of UNITE Here, an omnibus descended from the garment unions and the mobbed up Hotel and Restaurant workers).

Glenn Reynolds gave a curt description of today’s major media: “Garbage people paid to lie for the Democratic Party”.

He was clumsily attempting to refer to presidential libraries. Of course no one cares what government bureaucrats at Presidential libraries say, hence his erroneous title.

The rap on presidential libraries is that they’re empty. They’re certainly bloated and offensive. If the National Archives had any sense, they’d construct a modular records center in suburban Kansas City, move the archival material in the presidential libraries there, and deed over the rest of the property of each to the county governments where they’re located. In the future, a president leaves office and they just add another module, connected by a concourse to the rest.

As for the National Archives, if we ever have another Republican president, one task of his should be to identify the employees responsible for the Mar-a-Lago fandango and fire them.

I’ll guess Washington and Lincoln, definitely not Grant or Jackson. FDR might admire the power play. LBJ would ask which party he’s in before deciding whether to condemn it. I expect our historian / host to give us his version of the likely 13.

About as reliable as those presidential rankings that appear from time to time when the hoi polloi need to be reminded by their betters to whom they owe their admiration.

Speaking of former US Presidents, I’m waiting for us to yell out at the elephant in the room about the latest “resurfaced” bombshell about Obamas personal life. Not only does it blow the halo off Saint Obamas aura but it asks the question: which cabal is behind the agenda to leak Obamas past indiscretions and why are they pushing it again now?

(Ps I understand if the choice is not to bring it up on a Catholic blog.)

Just had a chance to interview former President Teddy Roosevelt. (Thanks to Mr Bump for setting this up!)
He told me that he’s “mad as h_ll” that they removed his statue from the Museum of Natural History and is considering a run against Hochul for governor of New York.
Bump really deserves a Pulitzer. Fake news had it that Mr Roosevelt was dead! I won’t repeat what he said about that

I’m remembering one published back in 1981 which listed the three worst presidents in American history as Calvin Coolidge, Richard Nixon, and Warren Harding. Which tells you they only polled Arthur Schlesinger clones.

BTW, Carter and his wife are at home supervised in shifts by his children and hired help. They are exceedingly old and she’s senile. That’s personalized assisted living, not hospice. Hospice lasts a median of 12 days, and if you’re ambulatory you’re better off than most. (M
