Even back then some Jesuits were going off the rails. Case in point:

I was surprised to learn that Ostehuis only passed away in April of this year. The Jesuits fancy themselves an intellectual elite, and as intellectuals, by and large, have grown increasingly hostile to Catholicism, so have the Jesuits.
It’s ironic that the “listening” is selective- make church more secular. It’s not, let’s restore sacraments, or let’s put offenders in jail instead of lifetime at convent.
I guess the next step would be to un-excommunicate him and make him their patron saint of synodality!
