Thought For The Day

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Traditional Catholic practices, such as the Rosary, would do just as well as Yoga at tuning out all the cacophony, without all the Hindu baggage.
Yoga positions are prayer positions seeking communication with a Hindu god. No Christian needs to participate in yoga.
I got it. Nobody could snark like Buckley.
Between him and our host here at TAC among others, my visceral disdain for the second-rate highschool musical tunes that pass for hymns these days remains firm and finds no trace of ebb. I intentionally sit where the music director of our parish can see me not even holding the “Garden of How Great We Art” or whatever the pew-rack musical pamphlet du jour is named these days.
Yes it is mind boggling how the 1960’s destroyed nearly everything it touched. I am a convert (1982) and even I can see how lousy the music and NO are. My upbringing in a tiny Baptist church was more orthodox than my current parish. My wife and I do lots of remedial Catholic studying to understand God’s word as softball homilies won’t help. Buckley was/is right. And he didn’t even live long enough to enjoy the Evil Clown yrs of today.
