I don’t know. I’m of the view the more time they waste making asses out of themselves with stupid dance routines, the less time they have to get in the way of normal people trying to live their lives.
Let them dance in hell.
You’ll recall the exasperated FSO Gilbert MacWhite in The Ugly American writing a letter to his superiors informing them he’d crossed paths with about 300 American expatriates during his time in his current posting and he figured about six of them were useful in the battle against Communism. The Ugly American was not a conventional novel but an assemblage of vignettes drawn from the lives of people the authors had known in the Far East.
The Foreign Service examination is famously challenging and the sample examinations I attempted 30 years ago certainly were. What it appears to accomplish is to screen for bookishness but not seriousness.
I’m okay with intraoffice escapades to lift morale and relieve boredom with the routine. But publicizing this over the official embassy account creates an impression of fatal frivolousness. We are lightweights with our guards down and no one fears us.
..Showing once again we have way too many federal employees, and heavy staffing cuts at Dept of State are highly warranted.

Well they are moving and seem to be having fun. .Let’s hope the exercising is over their lunch hour. Perhaps they are practicing for a charity fundraiser competition? Or office weight loss competition? Just trying to be positive…
