Portugal is one of the few European countries (Greece is another) that retains a large Communist vote. I’ll wager those are the ‘circles’ in question.

Yes pander to the woke- well done Vatican mob.

Who knew that Muslims, communists and anti-colonialists were the target audience for WYD. Looking forward to the non-Catholic youth celebrating Holy Mass with Pope Francis at WYD Lisbon 2023.

bom trabalho 👏

Only time will tell if he is in fact an antipope, like Patrick Coffin theorizes. Until then there’s only one thing I’m personally sure of: Francis is not oriented toward Christ. He does not act as a compass, a guide, a model, or a spiritual father. Not to me. He communicates like a weathervane moved by the the wild, progressive winds. And when I look at him all I picture is a fat, miserable little man who probably wishes and prays fervently that he could change the Church’s teaching. But, since he can’t, he does things like this to burn it in effigy. I’m sad that I think this, but I can’t see how he gave anyone much choice.

I think it highly problematic to critique “colonialism” this way. Most “indigenous” races practiced..numerous follies. Warfare, murder (sometimes genocidal), slavery, rape, theft, kidnapping, various other vice. Most “indigenous” peoples practiced these vices before colonists came to dissuade them. Colonialists were not always motivated by spreading Christ’s Word, it’s true. It’d still be a grave error to assume that any “indigenous” group sought Christ before Europe provided such teaching. Such criticism as might be here.. presents the deep folly of the secular intent.

Let’s not forget cannibalism. Not that Christians didn’t use torture. Tudor executions of Catholic priests by hung, drawn and quartered was grotesque. Akin to the Astecs who cut the hearts out of live humans.
However it could be very likely that w/o Prince Henry the Navigator and other seafarers, explorers and missionaries many peoples would still be without the wheel and still digging in the dirt for grubs to eat.

I wasn’t going to open this post when I read, PopeWatch: Prince Henry is Relieved. I thought to myself, “Oh no! Now Prince Harry is whining to the Pope about some perceived grievance against him and Meaghan”. Color me a dumb blonde.

That was my first thought too, CAM.

“Let’s not forget cannibalism”
After the Aztecs cut the heart out, their women cooked and they ate the bodies: cannibalism. No one was safe until our Lady of Guadaloupe appeared.
