The party is for the adults not the kid. The kid won’t remember it.
DS#1, so he would have a proper bday celebration, made invitations and went around the neightborhood handing them out to the very few other children around. I did not know these other children, he did not either really, and they didn’t know him.

A couple came; they got pizza, cake, and ice cream.
