Fox Commits Suicide

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

NEW YORK, NY — After months of controversy, Fox News has decided to part ways with the only reason anyone watches Fox News.

“Yes, we realize he delivered the most successful cable news program of all time, but we felt embarrassed by him at our Manhatten cocktail parties,” said Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott. “When we tried to get invited to fancy, sophisticated gatherings, people said: ‘Ewwww, aren’t you the Tucker Carlson people?’ and that made us feel sad. Curse you, Tucker, for making us feel sad!”

When reached for a reaction, Tucker simply stared dumbfoundedly at our reporter for several minutes.

Industry experts believe there are other factors that contributed to the alleged firing, including the fact that the company is too broke to pay him after settling a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems.

Progressives are reportedly overjoyed by the move, although many are saying Fox didn’t go far enough by not killing Carlson in addition to firing him. “You mean he’s still alive?” said Congresswoman AOC. “Tucker being alive is fascism!”

Go here to read the rest.  Carlson’s ratings were huge and he was the only reason conservatives still watched Fox.  Tucker will be richer than ever as he goes independent.  Fox on the other hand just relegated itself to being CNN light.

Tucker Carlson is great. I just had the Verizon guy drop Fox News from my package and replace it with one of the cartoon channels.

In other news, “Deacon” Steven Greydanus is citing Jesus Christ(!) to defend late-term abortion supporter John Fetterman. See here.

It should occur to Greydanus that the committee meeting is being presided over by a semi-invalid for the convenience of the Democratic Party. What Erma Bombeck said, “You can’t make it better, you laugh at it”

The ransom they paid to Dominion was absurd given the company’s revenue stream.

I’m guessing Rupert Murdoch is not long for this world and his inadequate sons have taken control of the company.

If the network had had any spirit left, it should have told Dominion see you in court and made as much broadcast use of it as possible. If they won, touchdown and if they lost the headline is look at the left corrupting the court.
Start. Saying. No.
“I decline your terms. Your move.”

Fox has been leaning left for several years now. People should have cut them off long before now. Obvious goal is to shut down all conservative talk that opposes the pervert party’s narrative. Just look what happened to One America News network. Put a little pressure on the cable firms, they cave and the don’t carry that network anymore. Trying to do the same thing with Newsmax.

Greydanus knows that. That’s why he does what he does. He’s a pawn.

If he were employed by the Democratic Party and his job were to sow discord in the Christian community and steer people towards liberal politicians who want them dead, would he be doing anything differently? No. He’s the Catholic David French.

Fox News has been Faux Conservative for decades. I remember watching one of those shows where they had two actors, one of whom was supposed to portray the conservative. A guest came on and said that discrimination is normal and universal, and occurs even among people who claim to be against discrimination. The response of the actors —both of them– was to go ballistic and start virtue-signalling like mad, assuring their viewers that THEY did not hold such heretical views. That was the last time I watched Fox News.

If the flagship host admitted to knowingly misleading the viewers about the election, he’s got to go.

When did he mislead anyone ‘knowingly’ and about what?

So, THE FBI, DNC, NY County DA, CNN, MSLSD, ABC, Bloomberg, CBS, NBC, etc. all knowingly lied about 16 million times, twice impeached, and now indicted President Trump for the past 6 years and you say Carlson misled somebody on the stolen election.

By firing someone who isn’t responsible for their legal problems (and which ordinarily would not be legal problems)?

Carlson shredded Kraken Sydney. He was far from the worst offender there.

It was the J6 stuff that offended Rupert. Notice how it ran for one who TCL episode? Rupert loves cash too much to draw the wrath of Fed down on him.

The settlement with Dominion was a convenient time to dump him.

Art – Yeah. Maybe on Don’s nonexistent other site “The American Evil Lawyer” we could argue that morality is no different than legality, but here we should be able to agree that moral credibility is a higher goal.

I’ve declined to watch Fox ever since the morning after the ‘20 presidential election, when Neil Cavuto cut off Kayleigh MacEnany mid-way through her press conference because she dared question the validity of the election results.

Since then, I’ve watched Tucker on the internet, but haven’t given Fox a minute of my attention.

Letting Tucker go is probably going to prove to be a Bud Lite Moment for Fox. As for Tucker, he’s likely already taking meetings with dozens of media reps, each anxious to get him signed to a podcast/media deal.

That wasn’t my argument. Nor has anyone made the case that Tucker did anything immoral.

It came out that way. I was talking about a question of ethics, and you turned it into a question of legality.

I didn’t follow the Dominion case, but they were trying at least to make the case that Tucker and others did something immoral, and received a huge settlement from FNC to get out of it.

No, they filed suit claiming Fox News as a corporation had damaged their sales by defaming their product. No clue why you fancy Tucker Carlson had some peculiar responsibility for that, and it is only if he did that firing him in regard to that would make any sense. Ordinarily, reporting and commentary on public controversies is not actionable. Well, somehow the rules have been disappearing in American courts in the last several years.

Hey, Donald. Not sure if you take suggestions, but the link I included at the very top of this thread might make for a good post. It’s not the fact that some no-name deacon is a liberal that’s so shocking. It’s the fact that he’s invoking the Lord to defend an abortion-supporting lummox like John Fetterman.

Agree – Suicide for prime time FOX NEWS and FOX NATION. The latter requires an annual subscription. Carlson’s absence on FOX NATION will leave a large hole in the programming. His one on one interviews with people from all walks of life and documentaries drew large audiences. I can’t imagine who will fill Tucker’s time slot on FOX NEWS and have the ratings his Tucker Carlson At Night did. We didn’t always agree with Carlson’s opinions, but he was conservative and very pro-life and will be missed. As alternatives, guess we’ll give NEWS MAX a try; find movies on TCM or entertaining shows on Mhz or Brit Box. There are plenty of good books to be read also.

Judge Napolitano said, “This is like the Yankees trading Babe Ruth for bad table manners.”

In other news, Chinese Biden’s handlers say your children aren’t your children implication they belong to the state.

You guys are squabbling over a talking head while the most corrupt, lawless, disastrous and illegitimate regime in US history is destroying real Americans’ lives. Forget about crime, murders, fentanyl deaths, can’t afford food and gas, millions of illegals and terrorists crossing the borders, etc. Beijing Biden’s approval ratings are 36% so Trump or Desantis don’t stand a chance.

So, when he runs [from the White House basement] Chinese Biden’s strategy is to go after the GOP for banning pornographic books in grammar schools.

Poor Tucker will transfer his millions of viewers to the highest bidder and sign a much more lucrative contract elsewhere.

FNC is bigger than its personalities, but the over-quick Arizona call put the first major crack between viewers and the brand. It largely recovered from that, but I know of longtime FNC fans who haven’t forgiven that. This is a much bigger crack. Even the markets recognize it. Maybe the 2024 Election will bring people back–I think the management is counting on that, but the Channel had best not rack up a third strike.

Former consumers can hold grudges for a long time. Note how Gillette’s has lost 1.2 billion in brand value since the 2019 ad and NFL ratings still aren’t what they were pre-protest.

When Fox signed on the fake woman, Bruce Jenner, any doubt about their “values “ should have been removed. “My mom was a prison guard“ Hannity, the fake conservative has had the fake woman on his show several times.

Here is the point of Fox News as is:

-Something for leftists to point to as a boogeyman. But all while not being spicy enough to actually get removed from TV (after all, then the left wouldn’t have a boogeyman to point to.) Basically they act as the Washington Generals.
-As a way to introduce proper leftist modes of thought to normie conservatives. For an example which has already been mentioned, normie conservatives would not take to calling men pretending to be women as actual women. But then Bruce Jenner is introduced as a proud conservative ally, and we have to call him “her” and say that “she” has chosen to be a woman (which we theoretically don’t have to personally agree, but we must assent to in public for politeness!) Then the battle is basically won, without the normie conservative realizing that it was even fought.

When LGBT proponents first came out with their early propaganda they were given a gift by moral conservatives. All fell in line with their appropriation of the word “gay “ for sodomy. Imagine them defending sodomy instead of “gay “. Words can have effects over long periods of time. The “T” for transgender has also been there from early on. It’s now being utilized. Allowing them to steal language to advance their agenda is not wise.
