Go here to read the story. Rape traditionally was punished with death.

The USCCB will have a nuclear meltdown in 3-2-1…
A nuclear meltdown would improve the USCCB considerably.
I wonder how many clerics in the USCCB deserve the death penalty for pedophilia (how exactly is that morally different than rape?). That’s why the USCCB would have a meltdown. Those clerics KNOW of what they are guilty, and they KNOW what kind of punishment God Almighty has in store for them.
LQC, these days I wonder how many of today’s bishops actually believe in God, much less the more difficult moral teachings of the Church (which used to mean the teachings of God, until the Modernists came along)? This is the only way I can explain how so many of them seem to care not one whit about actually saving souls, as they would rather practice SJW politics while they and their social media sycophants accuse believers in true Christian morality of being the bad guys.
A related point: please pardon my being picky, but I think we should be careful to point out that the vast majority of sexual abuse found to have been committed by Catholic clerics did not involve pre-pubescent children of either sex, but rather adolescent boys. Thus, pedophilia is not the appropriate definition of their affliction. They manifest either hebephilia (sexual interest in early adolescents, approximately ages 11-14) or ephebophilia (attraction to later adolescents, around 15-19). As I’m sure you know, the Jimmy Martin crowd has worked very hard, and with much success, to convince the public that there is no causal connection between homosexuality and clerical abuse, which is a blatant lie. It’s certainly true that not all same sex attracted males will go after adolescent boys under their authority, but it is equally certain that well over 90 percent of all known cases of clerical abuse in the US involved adolescent boys. We mustn’t let the lavender mafia obscure that fact with inaccurate terminology.
Frank, you are correct. Thank you. But whether pedophilia, hebephilia or ephebophilia, these men are sex perverts of the worst kind and no different morally than rapists.
BTW, Protestants have the EXACT same kind of problem. See Julie Roys who is reporting on these things – corruption, sexual iniquity, abuse, etc. – in Protestant denominations, espcially Evangelical:

The Lavender Mafia in our seminaries teaches that sodomy is not sinful. Free for all.
Informed consent at emancipation for all things, Armed Services, driving, drinking, voting (does that count any more?) contracts, banking…but not for being raped.
Twenty minutes alone with the parents of the child raped on international waters. If King George III could do it so can citizens.
Pope Sixtus V executed clerics who violated their vow of chastity, consensually or not.
Great point, LQC, and I agree completely. Lowest of the low.
Presents quite the PR nightmare for contemporary Catholic leadership.
And me with a new stove top popcorn popper…
