Let us all pray that the Pope has a rapid recovery. He has been looking very weak in recent public appearances. As always keep in mind that the Vatican often is less than forthcoming when the health of a pope is concerned.
Update:
Lots of rumors floating around that the Pope has had a heart attack. The Vatican is following its usual mendacious pattern when it comes to the health of the Pope. Initially the Pope was going to the hospital for scheduled tests. Next they were talking about a lung infection. Now the rumors of a heart attack. These rumors of course spread because no one expects accurate information on this subject from the Vatican.
Heavenly Father, Your instructions are to pray for those who persecute us. I confess that it is hard for me to pray for someone who is making my life so miserable. However, my desire is to be more like You in this situation. I need Your help to see beyond the Pope’s actions and to be able to pray as Christ would pray. You are the only one, Lord, who truly knows the Pope’s heart. Please direct my prayers for the Pope so that they will be in unison with Your will. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
Mrs Opey is a better Catholic than I am. I won’t write anything else because then Donald will need to censor me. 🙁
It can be difficult to diagnose whether an older person is having a lung or heart problem.
Prayers.
I am also 80+ with a pulmonary history. This is quite serious.
Prayers for the recovery of the Holy Father, and for God’s blessing upon him.
Don’t wish ill on Pope Francis, regardless of his views. So, Prayers for Gods Will for the Pope and He stays with him during this time of suffering. During this time of uncertainty, the hope is the Holy Spirit continues to protect the Church and the Faithful everywhere.
He is in my evening prayers.
May he find peace and mercy on the journey to recovery or eternity.
Dittoes to all here. Prayers up.
I know you guys are right.
Oremus pro Papa Francisco:
Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
“no one expects accurate information on this subject from the Vatican.”
There is a very old Roman saying: The pope in never sick until he is dead.”
Just remember, Martin Luther and Thomas More are looking at us right now, and one of them is nodding along to what we’re writing. Also to remember: they’re looking at us with their necks bent at drastically different angles.
To offer prayer for those we dislike is for the good of our own souls as it is for the one being prayed for. In a time where insane hatreds are stoked and valorized, we have to be different.
God’s will be done.
