There is no greater drama in human record than the sight of a few Christians, scorned or oppressed by a succession of emperors, bearing all trials with a fierce tenacity, multiplying quietly, building order while their enemies generated chaos, fighting the sword with the word, brutality with hope, and at last defeating the strongest state that history has known. Caesar and Christ had met in the arena, and Christ had won.
Not sure what the OP means exactly by “prey morality,” but I had two related thoughts:
A. Uncle Screwtape notes that predator/prey is basically the ruling paradigm of Hell.
B. In the early church many of the Fathers were wont to view the cross as a sort of mousetrap for the devil, where he comes in, thinking he has prevailed over Jesus by killing him, but then discovers that the hunter was really all along the hunted, and that the cross has become the means of his own overthrow.
