One of the more odious tactics is defining one’s enemies as “fringe,” getting agreement that the group is dangerous and deserves to be treated as an enemy of all, and then morphing the definition to include ever more of the real target.
We see that in how we are being treated:

Before we know it, we’re all the enemy of all and the State because we always were the target.
It’s maddening because slippery slope arguments are generally rejected, even though there’s plenty of evidence that the slippery slopes are pretty much how social evolution occurs.

To make matters worse they have Catholic clerics who would agree with their premise. Fueling the narrative and reshaping Social Catholic Doctrine to go against 2,000 years of solid theology.
The Mafia will not cave into doctrines that limit their existence. On the contrary, they will support anti-Catholic initiatives while proclaiming a Catholic model. Hypocrisy becomes sacrament, as they destroy what then they wish to rebuild, but in their image, unrecognizable to the body of Christ.

Most of the laity and much of the clergy has been subverted for something like 30 years or more now. One blessing of our current times is that this is now becoming obvious.

Christ without a Cross does not exist because the Cross of Christ is LOVE; the Cross of Jesus Christ is to the death of the Son of the God of LOVE. God, the Father is the true Co-Redeemer.
Man is created in love. Man is kept in existence through love and man is redeemed through love.
