The South Sudanese government would have made this decision for reasons beyond moral or religious ones. As with much of Africa, there are issues which link homosexuality, promiscuity, sexual assault with the spread of HIV and it is widespread and ongoing. There’s also problems with child abuse. The Pope is completely irresponsible and uninformed to send out a statement based on his “moral” agenda. Completely irresponsible.
