Cough, Cough

Yeah, I know.  There were tragic cases of people dying from Covid, almost always senior citizens or a substantial pre-existing condition..  I knew a few, may their souls rest in peace.  However the vast majority were either asymptomatic or, like me, had around two weeks in which they felt exhausted. Covid now has morphed into something which for most people is less of a health problem than the regular flu.

😂
I started feeling like some of my co-workers had pre-marked Covid tests.

I know of four, 40’s and 50’s year-old men who died suddenly who were in relatively good health; one was just cleared for knee replacement surgery. The commonality: China virus vaxxed. Go figure.

No one in my extended family suffered a severe case of the Wuhan flu.

They deployed the China virus reign of terror to get rid of Trump and beta test totalitarianism.

Covid now has morphed into something which for most people is less of a health problem than the regular flu.

The global data has it that COVID deaths between February 2020 and April 2022 averaged about 240,000 a month. In the last six months or so, the mean has been about 54,000 deaths per month. Better, but with room for improvement.

In some places abroad, the per capita death toll has in recent months been running at a clip which suggests that it may now about as lethal in aggregate as seasonal flu in those places. (Judgment still tentative). Among the places this appears to be the case at this time are India, Brazil, Argentina, and South Africa. As far as I’m aware, the only affluent country for which this appears to be the case right now is the Netherlands. (The populations of affluent countries of the Far East appear to have been largely immune to the earlier variants but are now being hammered by the later ones).

The rest of the occidental world may get there, but we are not there yet. There have been 115,000 deaths in this country since 1 March; over the first two years of this epidemic, deaths recorded from mid-November to the end of February amounted to 90% of deaths recorded from the beginning of March to mid-November. If that ratio holds, we could be looking at 220,000 deaths for the 12 months ending on 1 March 2023. During the period running from 2013-19, the annual death toll from seasonal flu in this country averaged 34,000 a year. So, we are running a death toll equivalent to > 6x that of a typical seasonal flu year. That’s better than 15x a typical seasonal flu year, which is what it was the 1st year under COVID, but we still have a ways to go to get back to normal with this ailment.

almost always senior citizens or a substantial pre-existing condition

About 15% or so in this country have been people under 60. Other than age, the only factor which seems to matter much is excess weight.

Let me know when the “with Covid” death counts are replaced by the “from Covid” counts (i.e., Covid is deemd to be the primary efficient cause of death.) Until then, the government statistics are worse than meaningless.

I have no clue why the lot of you fancy doctors all over the world are suddenly unable to sort through factors and determine cause of death except that their judgments are inconvenient to whatever thesis you’re pushing.

That was funny, however frighteningly close to the truth. But yeah…Covid….just from experience- try getting people back into the office where I’m from. Everyone wants to “work from home”. I know I’ll get jumped on for those who genuinely do work well from home. That’s great for them but as an employer this isn’t always ideal. There are even radio ads about the benefits of children not missing out on school. Kids have suddenly decided it won’t hurt them to miss out on learning. Covid lockdowns gave people a chance to reassess “priorities”.

“That’s great for them but as an employer this isn’t always ideal.”

snorts Wish someone would mention that to MY employer. They pushed most of us home about March last year. I think they prefer when they need not heat (or cool) enough space for the lot of us. We all take up lots of room. ..They can require all of us to maintain our own internet to keep our jobs too…. Grrrr. We all ARE pretty expensive even outside of our paychecks.

“BLM riots are not a health risk because they do important work in fighting racism”
“The Nobel prize winning drug Ivermectin is dangerous horse paste that should not be taken for any reason.”

Most doctors agreed with both of the above statements.
