The long-term effects of Trump Derangement Syndrome are rendering useless whatever talents these people might otherwise have been able to bring to bear against the truly mendacious puppet regime running Washington DC. They are true examples of the “Nowhere Man” from the old Beatles’ song.

Exactly what value-added to ‘political consultants’ like Schmidt provide? You’re not going to find a popular ‘NeverTrump’ constituency anywhere. It’s a Capitol Hill / K-street / Acela corridor media phenomenon. Nor are they able to form a counter-establishment of publications and policy shops. The assets they have are dependent on financing by characters like Pierre Omidyar who will jerk the chain if they quit being shills. The only people they might recruit who know something about policy are associated with outfits like the Mercatus Center and have always been faculty poseurs of no use to starboard public officials. The public officials who’ve been spouting this line for the last seven years have a high political mortality rate. There will be a half dozen left in Congress come January, fewer once Mitt Romney is kicked to the curb in 2024.
Remember when they tried to convince us that Evan McMullin was both A.) an unstoppable political force and B.) The most conservative conservative who ever lived?
The more I consider it, I think Mr. Schmidt may be unintentionally correct. Liz running for president as a conservative would likely end MAGA as a political threat much like hurling oneself off a cliff ends gravity as a physical threat by making it an inevitability.
