Maybe a good old fashioned hard cold winter in Europe and the US either with little fuel or very expensive fuel will snap those of us who are hypnotized by climate fear out of the grip of political mind control.

When you can’t come up with orginal thoughts and true dialogue with opponents, liberals will throw in the wild card, tyranny.
Big brother, move over for Big sister.
Newspeak and mind control for NZ?

Liberal progressives are blinded by hearts frozen or for many nonexistent hearts. With only their hubris to lead them they walk the lemmings off the cliff.

Orwell’s work lives on.

Don’t pay attention to anything Arden says. She may be the sweetheart of the international stage but her own people don’t like her. I’ve yet to meet a kiwi who doesn’t think she is drunk on her own power. The right in NZ is getting more popular by the day.

*Ardern (or whatever her name is)

Ardern was elected to parliament at age 28 and spent the previous seven years AFAICT employed by political NGOs. Oh, she was a communications major in school. She’s about the last person you want in charge of anything. Constitutional provisions should debar such a person from public office.

Note, in academe, the media, and now leftoid politics, ‘hateful and dangerous rhetoric’ means you’re not deferential to their menu of mascots.

Agree Art, she is out of her depth as PM. She thinks her popularity decline is due to the cost of living in NZ. No Ms Ardern, people don’t like you because you hide your incompetency by controlling the rights of New Zealanders. She went above and beyond during the Covid lockdown to make sure New Zealanders knew SHE was in charge. And now she is banging on about controlling global free speech. That to me is a prime example of an insecure and incompetent leader.

“Big Sister”? How about Big Teeth? Have you seen how the British political satire puppet show “Spitting Image” portrays her? They nailed it.

The Kiwis are a strange lot. As part of he ANZAC contingent, they performed heroically in WW I and help hold the line in the Pacific against the Japanese is WW II. Post war, something happened in the country the turned them into a nation of wusses. Started with the anti-nuclear policy despite the growing aggression of China and continued through various leftist ideas in domestic and foreign policy. Culminated with a covid stance that essentially confined and isolated the entire country. Ardern is simply an expression of dependency state that has lost its individual will and energy.

Yep and the once enviable and mighty All Blacks aren’t that mighty anymore either. Their opposition don’t flinch at their Haka like they used to. Ah well, If all else continues to fail at least they still have their beautiful, sweeping landscapes.

I’m inclined to think the intent of the present day leftist tyrant is more sinister than those Lewis characterizes in his quote.

Don’t, Greg. I understand the temptation (believe me I do), but this is a war for converts, and if there’s one thing the Left has demonstrated, you don’t win any by claiming they’re irredeemable and evil.

Besides, if you attribute the wrong motives to your enemy, then you’ll end up making incorrect tactical decisions trying to anticipate their maneuvers. These people honestly believe they’re doing what’s best and that they’re going to prevent the next nazis (no matter how shiny their jackboots get).

Nate, if the left meant well, they would live by what they want to force everyone else to live by. But they obviously don’t. Granted, many well-meaning people get taken in by leftist schemes. But those imposing these schemes, it’s liberty for me but not for thee.

David Lange’s anti-nuclear status signaling was undertaken when the Soviet Union was still around, not when China began threatening the sea lanes. Curiously, Lange’s ministries worked to remove mercantilist controls on the Kiwi economy; he got some good press from The Economist for that.

The starboard parties usually carry the day in New Zealand. The 2020 election was the exception. Be agreeable if Ardern was blown out of office next year.

The statements “the left do not have our best interests in mind; they hate us and want us to die” and “the left thinks that they are doing the right thing” are not mutually exclusive.
