I am sure the Pope is so pleased.

The new Prime Minister is fluent in English.  From 2020:

She has preternatural political skills.  Her last name means melon:

I have never believed in reincarnation, but if I did I would think that Huey Long has been reborn as her.

Ed Pentin asks the 64,000 dollar question, “How will Pope Francis and the Vatican respond?”

Francis will respond to this news the same way he responded to the legalization of abortion in Ireland, Argentina, and Chile: he won’t.

Marx Che will respond by claiming that her opposition to mass immigration is xenophobic. (No word yet on how many migrants he’ll let stay with him. To be fair, his girth takes up a great deal of his living space.)

Steven Greydanus will respond by ignoring this news and churning out his usual word salad about how the MAGA movement is an existential threat to democracy, as though stopping the (fraudulent) election of a pro-abort is a bad thing. (Speaking of which, if abortion is genocide, then what difference does the outcome of a democratic election make? Does he think that circumventing democracy in order to prevent Hitler from taking power be objectionable? Or does he not regard abortion as a genocide, as far too many pro-life liberals do?)

James Martin will issue his usual pablum about the dangers of being intolerant.

Anyway, I’m not a Catholic, so I’ll leave all this hullaballoo to you people. I should stress, however, that I consider myself a million times more anti-abortion than any of the aforementioned individuals. If I had my way, it would be banned in every corner of the world.

“Does he think that circumventing democracy in order to prevent Hitler from taking power would be objectionable?”
Well, since that (i.e., circumventing democracy) is exactly what the Democrats did in 2020, to prevent Trump, whom they unanimously calumniate as “Hitler”, from staying in office, I’d say the clear answer is “Of course not. The end justifies the means.”

Bussy Boyd,

Good to have you with us.

Anyhow, the commies are for democracy and free elections ONLY when said elections go their way.

The fangirl commie media and the dopes you mentioned are likely already comparing Ms Whatshername, er Meloni to Mussolini and Hitler. While their bosses are negotiating with Iran where women are being executed for not wearing the proper headgear.

She’s right and it’s one of the things James Lindsay has been going over in his examination of marxism: any system which perpetuates the current order must be destroyed because it is standing in the way of utopia (which even Marx didn’t like to call it because he knew the name meant “no place”). The family must be undone and children have to be broken down into raw social material so that they can be rebuilt into the new soviet man who will finally realize the dream.

I wish her well. Previous excursions in starboard government in Italy have proven disappointments, but maybe she’ll deliver. One thing that needs to happen is for rank-and-file Italians to take an interest in procreation. A 75% increase in the total fertility rate would be tonic for Italy.

One thing I hope happens is that they amend Italy’s laws on financial services to separate deposit-and-loan banking from the capital markets and the firms trading on them, separate finance and insurance, separate consultancies from the firms trading in financial products, &c. Also agreeable would be amended procedures for rapidly recapitalizing or rolling up distressed financial firms. Italy’s had a huge problem with sour assets on the books and needs its financial sector sorted and shored up in order to prepare for something else: a bank holiday, the imposition of exchange controls, and the introduction of a new currency. One thing Italy has suffered from is the currency peg. If you’re going to get rid of it, it all has to be done in one weekend. Once you’re out of the Euro, the next step is Italexit. After the British experience, the best thing to do might be to eschew negotiation. Just climb in the truck, hit the gas and crash through the gates.

Once you’re out of the Euro, the next step is Italexit.

The EU is proving to be a complete failure in theory and practice. With Italy now swinging to the conservative right, there is a huge chance other countries will follow suit and EU will go to the dogs. It’s authority is under scrutiny by its member countries already.

The concern for Meloni is her alliances with Salvini and Berlusconi (both Putin supporters) who are critical over Italy’s Ukraine sanctions. Their anti-immigration stance should keep them steady however keeping a strong control over her coalition is going to be part of the challenge of Meloni’s government. She will have to keep a stable government because Italy has had a poor record of continual stable leadership. (Mind you only 64% of eligible voting Italians turned out to vote). Italy’s economy and soaring energy prices is pretty much on par with what’s happening in the world right now.

Also on a side, notice how the fact she is Italy’s first female PM has not roused a whimper from the hardcore global feminists? It’s ok, she’ll show them true feminism when she changes Italy’s abortion laws. God-willing.

The EU is proving to be a complete failure in theory and practice.

It started out as a customs union (agreeable enough) and morphed into a hideously intrusive apparat. Having a European system which includes a customs union, a joint coast guard and customs inspectorate supplementing national border controls, and a military alliance might be agreeable. The mess in Brussels is not. Since at least 1992, it has been an exercise in Eurotrash elites warring on their respective publics.

One indicator of the essential unseriousness of Scots and Catalan nationalists is that they’re hostile to their respective capitals but eager to put themselves under the Brussels yoke.

Amen.
God willing indeed.
The darkness will not prevail.
Michiganders will usher in a new female Governor and, God-willing, a defeat of proposition 3.
Please continue to pray for Michigan.

“Previous excursions in starboard government in Italy have proven disappointments, but maybe she’ll deliver.”

Somehow I think this may more of anti-left thing than pro-right thing. Italy seems to have been hit hard by the draconian Commie Cootie lockdowns of 2020 and other leftist oppression sweeping Europe and this election may just be a pushback against the bullshit. We’ll see.

“Make Italy Great Again.“
