PopeWatch: Indiana More Catholic Than The Pope

From the article:

The court’s Wednesday ruling could indicate that a lingering canonical case on a related situation will soon be resolved as well.

The archdiocese has been mired in a canonical dispute with Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School over its 2019 instruction that the Jesus school should dismiss another teacher, Layton Payne-Elliot, who had contracted a same-sex civil marriage with Joshua Payne-Elliot, the Cathedral High teacher.

Brebeuf school leaders became aware in 2017 that its teacher had contracted a same-sex marriage. In 2019, Archbishop Charles Thompson instructed both Cathedral High and Brebeuf Jesuit not to renew the contracts of the two teachers. Cathedral complied, but Brebeuf did not.

The archbishop subsequently prohibited the Jesuit school from identifying itself as Catholic, and the Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus appealed that decision to the Vatican’s Congregation for Clergy, which suspended Thompson’s decree while the matter is being deliberated.

The appeal centers on canonical questions regarding the scope and nature of an archbishop’s authority with regard to schools administered by religious institutes. It does not ask the Vatican to judge directly whether a teacher in a same-sex marriage can or should be a teacher in a Catholic school, focusing instead on a jurisdictional dispute over the authority of the diocesan bishop and the Society of Jesus.

We shall see what happens next, but I am not optimistic.  The Lavender Mafia, and the Jesuits, often one and the same, usually get what they want out of this Vatican.

And with that PopeWatch will be on Labor Day hiatus until September 6, 2022.

Many years ago we had lists of banned boks (as harmful to one’s soul) and I wondered if we couldn’t (because of the corrupted state of our church) institute a list of banned institutions–warning Catholics of their danger to their souls.

The President of the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School is Fr. William Verbryke, SJ. He used to be the head of all the Jesuits in Cincinnati and lived at Xavier University. He was a guest priest at our parish on Trinity Sunday and taught several heresies. He related the story of the Prodigal Daughter who returned to the waiting Mother and he talked about God the Mother. The meant there was possibly a Fourth person of God, that Jesus was wrong about knowing his Father which then also meant he wasn’t God because he was wrong, and it meant Jesus had two Mothers. I still have the letter from my Archbishop confirming his “errors”.
That is the priest who refused to obey the Indianapolis Bishop. I think the Bishop should simply withdraw ALL permissions for Mass and the Sacraments for ALL Jesuits in his diocese until they comply.

Maybe the Bishop should be even more succinct in dealing with William Verbryke, SJ. Maybe he should quote Father Jacques Hamel: Be gone Satan.

I will repeat: Lifting the suppression of the Jesuits in the early 19th century was a BAD mistake.
