Why is there this great need to use a recent convert/revert’s? preference for the Latin Mass as a weapon to antagonize other Catholics? Can we not just hope that his faith is lasting given his troubled background and rather bizarre past. I love the Latin Mass but believe it suffers its greatest damage from its strongest adherents.

His conversion may be lasting or not, but it is certainly newsworthy.
It is not Traditional Catholics who are waging war, but rather the Pope waging a war against them.
Maybe his conversion was a case of know Jesus know peace no Jesus no peace.
In any case, each day in spirit and truth we need to be converted and keep at it.
If someone else’s soul being saved by the Latin mass is “antagonizing” to you, you may have some REALLY big issues.
Foxfier my point was not that Shia found comfort in the Latin Mass, but that some chose to use the occassion as a convenient weapon to continue to wage an interfaith battle-they are not celebrating his soul being saved (that sounds very Protestant to me, BTW).
Are you suggesting the only way to have your soul saved is through TLM? He also stated he found some Novus Ordo liturgies worthy.

A few years back Catholics gushed at Mark Wahlberg driving his daughter to her first confession and posting it on social media; nevermind the man publicly supports same-sex marriage and says the Church is wrong.
I attended two parishes in the archdiocese of Chicago that have had there traditional Mass cancelled in the past year. My kids have received their sacraments of initiation in the traditional rite. My three sons have assisted at the altar of the latin Mass. I express my opinion that maybe we ought to not be so in your face with one aspect of this recent news and the cats start howling (in the end just proving my point). Thank you for reminding me of why I rarely comment on these sites- have a pleasant Sunday.

Once outside the Stream that’s bound to happen. I’d like to see Latin Mass Everywhere. The fact that many outside the Church think it attractive is inspiring. I wonder how Pope Frankie reacts to news like this.
Ken, you are very obviously angry, and lashing out, because this guy found comfort in the Latin Mass.
You are angry about someone coming to God.
That isn’t a problem with other people who are celebrating the guy coming into the Church, that’s a problem with you and your reaction, where you see that celebration as an attack.
My problem with this particular situation has nothing to do with the Latin Mass or even whether or not Shia’s conversion is on the up and up. What I find disturbing is that how quickly recent celebrity converts are used by Catholic Inc. as a promotional tool without regard to harm to the individual celeb such quick public attention to their conversion might bring because they are mentally, emotionally, and spiritually ready for.
I meant to say they are NOT mentally, emotionally, and spiteful ready for. And this is probably especially true in Shia’s case given the wrecked state his life in in at the moment.
A commonality that we should focus on is not rooted in which Holy sacrifice of the Mass we prefer but the solidarity between fellow brothers and sisters grounded in efficacious grace.
Prayers for his conversion.
That’s our duty and privilege.
I understand Ken’s point and I pray that my preference for TLM never blinds me of Gods grace working in orher forms of worship…including but not limited too all protestant denominations.

Having a very small part in helping a brother into our Holy Catholic Church is a unearned bonus. God, Mary and the Saints do the heavy lifting in each souls return to the Holy Catholic Church. Yes. Return. We were infused with His likeness in the Church Triumphant before the foundation of the world began.
