Salman Rushdie was about to give a speech on artistic freedom when he was stabbed in the neck. Islamists have been trying to kill him since the satanic verses was released.

Fatwas are forever. Iran’s mullahs are reacting to the news with their usual barbarity. The nation the Biden administration is eager to have nuclear weapons.
The perpetrator was born in 1997 / 98, about nine years after the fatwa was issued. Note, the fatwa extended to the book’s editors and translators, at least two of whom have been murdered over the years. The assailant’s family, btw, is from south Lebanon. Individual cases can always be outliers. Cannot help but notice that our immigration policy and educational system encourages the formation of knots of alienated ingrates. Politics, law, and education are all dominated by people who have it in for the rest of us.
The assailant’s family, btw, is from south Lebanon.
Yes saw that- his family is from Yaroun (half Catholic half Shiite village near Lebanese/Israeli border) but the 24yo is American born and from New Jersey. He’s probably a Hezbollah supporter. That’s the fruits of non-discriminate immigration. Evidence that extremist Islamic ideology doesn’t necessarily dissolve because the first generation in born there…
Btw, Hezbollah (Iranian-backed) operates as a State within a State in Lebanon. That terrorist organisation is unfortunately a “political party” in Lebanon.
Salman Rushdies recovery from the stabbing doesn’t look positive.
PRaying for his recovery so mullahs won’t win.
Iran is not a threat to the United States. The FBI is.
The Iranian government disagrees with you George.
“Iran is not a threat to the United States. The FBI is.”
I would say both of them are. Just using different means. Although maybe the Bureau is working on a nuke, too. Wouldn’t surprise me.
Read less Bill Kristol and more Ron Paul. It’s astonishing how people who hate neocons are still willing to regurgitate neocon propaganda.
Iran is definitely developing a nuke. I hear they’re collaborating with the team that helped Saddam build his invisible WMDs.
Didn’t mean to double-post.
Ron Paul is a crank who believes that the world would be peachy if America would only retreat to Fortress America. Bill Kristol now supports the Biden policy on Iran which is to promote it getting nuclear weapons. Kristol and Paul, now brothers under the skin in appeasing Iran!
You’re too kind.
Ron Paul is a freaking scam who urged restraint while piling on lard where he knew things would pass.
Rand Paul… kind of mostly tried to live by what he preached. Sort of.
Iran is definitely developing a nuke.
That is what their government says:

Ron Paul is a great man, and if you think that Bill Kristol is opposed to a war with Iran, then you’re delusional.
And of course the Iranian government would claim it’s approaching a nuclear threshold. They want to deter a U.S. attack. (And don’t link me to neoconservative think tanks like the FDD. It’s bad for my health.)
The U.S. has thousands of nuclear weapons, and here you are hyperventilating about Iran. It’s like the run-up to the Iraq War all over again.
Ron Paul is a great man,
Actually, he’s a textbook crank, which his son is not.
“and if you think that Bill Kristol is opposed to a war with Iran, then you’re delusional..”
He voted for Biden and the current administration is as likely to fight a war with Iran as it is to produce a balanced budget. Your attempt to hand wave away the nuclear weapon program of Iran is duly noted .
If you think that Ron Paul is a crank, then that’s just further proof that he’s doing something right. Your bellicosity is truly pathetic.
If Biden doesn’t start a war with Iran, then that’ll be a rare point in its favor. Of course, the notion that Biden is insufficiently aggressive on the foreign policy front is stupid. This is a man who’s spent the better part of the past year siphoning off money to Ukraine in the hopes of prolonging the war there.
And yes, I genuinely don’t give a damn if Iran develops a nuclear weapon. I’ve been listening to neocons screech about the perils of a nuclear Iran for decades now, all while they horde thousands of nuclear weapons and launch stupid war after stupid war in the name of democracy.
Yes, I called Biden an it.
And yes, I genuinely don’t give a damn if Iran develops a nuclear weapon. I
That is obvious George. You view America as the threat not Iran, and you share in Ron Paul’s delusion that an isolationist America would usher in utopia.
The country that used nuclear weapons twice and invaded another country over trumped-up claims of WMDs is a far greater threat to world peace than Iran. And yeah, not starting another reckless war in the Middle East is totally the same thing as isolationism. You got me.

You know, it really doesn’t make your look any better when you have to engage in what is at best a half-truth.
You view America as the threat not Iran
I think he’s telling you the nuclear bomb would be dropped on Tel Aviv, so it’s of no interest.
Imagine still defending the integrity of the Iraq War. So dumb.
Didn’t take long for Deco to make this about Israel. His Ben Shapiro starter pack must’ve arrived in the mail.
Imagine thinking that telling ignorant lies that have been debunked, repeatedly, is a good game plan…..
Can’t wait for Liz Cheney to lose tomorrow. It’s a shame her father’s still gonna be around, though.
The country that used nuclear weapons twice
Imperial Japan was just minding its own business when, out of the blue, and for absolutely no reason, the US dropped a-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The ‘twice’ was two bombs dropped three days apart at the very end of a war in which aerial bombing had been regrettably routine. It was a war Japan started and had been fighting against various parties since 1931.
As for the invasion of Iraq, we had been in a state of belligerency with Iraq for 12 years. Bush had a trilemma, take the sanctions off (with predictable consequences), leave the sanctions on (which Big Consciences assured us were responsible for a six digit tally of excess deaths each year) or eject the government.

You’re bouncing back between Griffey’s site and this one, complaining you’ve been traduced. I take it you’ve found a different coffee shop to post from to get around the ban hammer the moderator hit you with the last time.
