The woman’s primary demonstrable skill is navigating the internal politics of her caucus. She actually has only modest experience in running or participating in competitive elections; she’s done nothing of the sort since 1987. She likely has talents as a fundraiser, but given the nature of political economy in this country, ‘fundraiser’ is a synonym for ‘extortionist’. The voters of San Francisco County have tolerated her for 35 years and the Democratic caucus in the House for nearly 20 years. An unscrupulous dolt is their idea of normal.
Note, Dianne Feinstein had much more on the ball than Pelosi ever did, but you’re hearing tales of cognitive decline about her.
Very odd. Actually, Mrs. Pelosi’s position on China has been one of the few praiseworthy things in her public record (her penchant for grandstanding aside). She surely must have had a slip of the tongue (or a touch of dementia kicking in), saying China when she meant to say Taiwan (“Republic of China”).
