Burn of the Day

Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

What is astonishing is that our church has so lost it’s core purpose and with its tepid teachings by our hierarchy, morally confused people actually believe it somehow supports the worst of sins. Pray for them, but a good cleansing may be on the near horizon. It started with only 12 and thrived.
“It started with only 12 and thrived.” Too true Don L., but incomplete. It thrived on the Truth. Today, most of the hierarchy wouldn’t know the truth if if smacked them in the face. I mean, my Bishop is tepid to his core, yet I actually count myself blessed. He’s not peddling poison and he’s not sending out unbelieving, effeminate priests from the seminary, but faithful men of God instead. I don’t think most dioceses have it that good.
The pope isn’t wise to ignore this. He will be asked about it, then he’ll probably blurt something out which will be an irritant to one side but which won’t satisfy the other. It’s a grumpy, public, white martyrdom replete with creature comforts.
Tonight at Mass, they praised the ruling of Roe vs Wade. I walked out. I’m not Ok
Ha! Yeah, clearly she’s not ok. Too bad she can’t realise why. A mirror would help her with some deep self-reflection.
I bet the Pope has been silent about the US SC decision because his own personal prejudices are more important than his Papal obligations. He’s one stubborn individual. Unfortunately not in the noble St Peter kind-of-way.
The Vatican officials who responded to this momentous news by prattling on about how gun control is also a pro-life issue can go to hell. The Catholic Church seems to have a fetish for being stomped on by the people who hate it the most.
Who could be so extremist as to expect the Roman Catholic Church to advance centuries-old Catholic Church Teaching relative killing unborn persons?
N.B., It wasn’t 50 years of the [so-called] USCCB 24/7 indefatigably toiling to stop baby murdering that won out.
I have a similar, walk-out story related to young Father Sullivan’s homily on the Solemnity of the Holy Family and that the ‘Natural Law’ [my words] unit being one man and one woman and children. A widow [I know from her sons in Boy Scouts] got up and walked out.
That’s why I would get expelled from the Seminary. If I were Father Sullivan, I’d have said [very loudly] “And, don’t come back until you’ve seen me in Confession.” That, plus I don’t sit down to pee.
