I still vividly recall Farrell’s deer-in-the-headlights expression while he claimed to have no knowledge of the escapades of his mentor, McCarrick, despite having shared an apartment with the man in DC for six years. Rarely have I seen a person lie so obviously.

I remember seeing an interview on ETWN with Bob Bennett, who had worked on the USCCB abuse scandal board and was a friend or at least an associate of Cardinal McCarrick. He says he didn’t know and I believe him. I lived in that archdiocese at the time and I never heard any rumors.

The mother for one of the guys on According to Hoyt was a lay-friend of McCarrick, he frequently mentions how glad he is that she passed away before anything came out.
Definitely had no idea– which is normal for predators, if they’re successful, they’ve got sorting tactics to bring people in as close as they’ll tolerate, and no closer, which provides a fence of people going “What, HIM? Nah, I know that guy, he’s fine!”

Rumors about McCarrick were put in print at Off the Record, a blog maintained by Ignatius Press. The author of the post was the pseudonymous ‘Diogenes’. Most of the Diogenes posts were contributed by Fr. Paul Mankowski, SJ. That would have been in 2004.

What Farrell knew would have depended on McCarrick’s personal habits. That is to say what he knew precisely. That there was dirt on McCarrick he would have known.

Note, the Church should have a committee of lay finance mavens supervising its investments, not clerics.

Pinky, I’m all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, up until the point where that becomes ridiculous. But Farrell lived with the man for six years and was closely associated with him for longer than that. I agree with Art that precise knowledge would be dependent on McCarrick’s behavior. Farrell was my bishop for several years and we never had any rumors about him, either. But I spent many hours in hearings, trials, and depositions attempting to judge the credibility of witnesses. It’s not an exact science, to be sure, and I could be wrong. But in my opinion, which I believe was shared by many, in the interview to which I was referring above, Farrell was obviously, and I do mean obviously, lying his socks off. He gets no more benefit of the doubt from me.

Off topic, I would like to know if the Vatican bought stock in Pfizer, when and how much. According to Dr McCollough, it was known in circles they would be the money makers (vaccine stock) and also why they kept pushing wo normal testing etc.
I really would like to know that, if and when they purchased stock.

“I would like to know if the Vatican bought stock in Pfizer, when and how much.”
Great question, which also should be applied to Fauci and the rest of the cadre that purported to run our lives for two years, and in fact destroyed untold numbers of jobs and businesses for no apparent benefit to anyone but the “vaccine” makers and power-drunk bureaucrats and politicians. Yes, I would love to see a full accounting of that in this world. But we probably will have to wait until the next.

Note. From 1969 to 2016, the faithful of Dallas were stuck with Thomas tschoeppe, Charles Grahmann, and this tool. Someone in the Congregation of Bishops really despises Dallas.

I would argue that Farrell having lived with McCarrick and not knowing he was a sexual predator is probably worse than knowing and lying about it. You don’t want someone as obtuse and unaware as Farrell heading any financial Vatican Committee… Or maybe you do if you’re wanting to keep dirty business running as per the usual….
