When Will the Pope Apologize for His Apology?

Perhaps if someone were to point out that, although Canadians are, technically, “Americans”, they are NOT “Yanquis”, the Pope would apologize.
A big part of why hate crime hoaxes are so common are:
1.) You don’t have to provide evidence.
2.) Most people won’t investigate your claims at all, and will call anyone who does investigate them bigots.
3.) If somehow it is proven that your claims were bogus you don’t have to apologize.
3b.) This is true even if your accusations led to measurable harm.
3c.) In fact you are likely to get praised for “starting a conversation.”
